Mark Newhouse, the renowned author of the award-winning Holocaust fiction series, The Devil’s Bookkeepers, was a recent presenter as part of the Daniel Pearl Education Center Speaker Series.
Born in a displaced person’s camp in Germany two years after his parents were liberated from Auschwitz and Buchenwald, Newhouse’s novel is about undying love and courage, with a plot that closely follows and brings to life the shocking true events his parents miraculously survived in the Lodz ghetto. Haunted by the loss of most of his family, Newhouse uses humor, poetry and his journey from abused child to multi-award-winning author of adult and children’s books and stories to offer a message of hope and love that transcends the Holocaust, so it never happens again to anyone.
