Once again, hate-inspired violence took innocent lives in Buffalo and in Laguna Woods, California over the weekend.

First came the horrific shooting of Sunday shoppers at a Buffalo supermarket – a race-motivated attack that targeted the city’s Black community. And just hours later we learned of an attack in a California church against the Taiwanese community.

While these hate attacks always raise more questions than answers, many questions come to mind, beginning with: Why aren’t we doing more about the deadly combination of hate and racism in our society and the all-too-easy availability of assault rifles, ammunition, body armor (as we saw in Buffalo) and other instruments of war?

When will we have enough of this hate and violence? When will we get serious about protecting innocent lives? When will we make it stop?

When?
